Residents invited to help shape future of housing across West Northamptonshire |
| Plans to increase the supply of affordable homes, strengthen support for vulnerable residents, improve housing standards and help people live independently for longer are among the proposals set out in West Northamptonshire Council’s (WNC) draft Housing Strategy 2027-2032, which is now open for public consultation. |
| The new strategy will provide the framework for housing services and investment over the next five years, setting out how the Council will work with partners to respond to growing housing demand, tackle homelessness, support sustainable communities and ensure residents have access to safe, suitable and affordable homes.
People across West Northants are now being invited to share their views on the draft strategy before it is finalised and presented to Cabinet for adoption. Developed using housing needs evidence, service data and feedback from stakeholders, the strategy is built around four key priorities:
The strategy recognises the important role housing plays in people’s health, wellbeing, independence and life opportunities, and sets out an ambition for everyone in West Northamptonshire to have access to a home that enables them to live well and thrive. The consultation is open to residents, council tenants, landlords, developers, community organisations and partner agencies, with feedback helping to shape the final document and future housing priorities across the area. Cllr Charlie Hastie, Deputy Leader of WNC and Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, said: “Good quality housing is at the heart of strong communities and better life chances. Our Housing Strategy sets out how we’ll work with partners to increase affordable housing, prevent homelessness, improve housing standards and support residents to live independently. “We want to hear from as many people as possible. Whether you’re a tenant, homeowner, landlord, developer or community organisation, your feedback will help shape the final strategy and ensure it reflects the needs of our communities.” Residents and stakeholders can view the draft Housing Strategy and complete the online survey via the Council’s website. The consultation closes at midnight on Sunday 29 November 2026. |
